Tesla's Q3 update puts paid FSD count at 1.74 million
Tesla's reported total includes upfront purchases and monthly subscriptions, while excluding free trials.
Tesla reported 1.74 million active FSD subscriptions for the third quarter in its October 21 results update, compared with 1.48 million in Q2. That is an increase of approximately 260,000, or 17.6%, calculated from the rounded figures in its unaudited operational summary. [1] [2]
The metric includes customers who paid upfront as well as monthly subscribers, and excludes free trials. It therefore should not be read as a count of customers making recurring monthly payments. Tesla reported 1.04 million under the same metric for Q3 2025. [1]
Separately, Tesla said more than 75% of new vehicle deliveries in North America included FSD subscriptions. That percentage describes new deliveries in that region, not the share of every Tesla already on the road. [1]
Tesla continues to label the customer software FSD (Supervised), with active driver supervision required. The subscription figures measure paid adoption; they do not establish autonomous capability or driving safety performance. [1]
