Solid Power begins commissioning Colorado solid-electrolyte pilot line
The company targets fourth-quarter startup for MOBIUS, with capacity intended to support battery-material qualification.
Solid Power said on October 26 that it has started commissioning MOBIUS, a pilot manufacturing line for sulfide-based solid electrolyte at its SP2 facility in Thornton, Colorado. Construction is substantially complete and materials are entering the equipment, according to the company. [1]
The line is designed to add 45 metric tons of annual electrolyte capacity. Solid Power expects the facility's total to reach about 75 metric tons per year after commissioning, with MOBIUS running alongside existing batch-production lines. [1]
Testing of the primary powder-processing equipment is complete, the company says. It expects full equipment acceptance testing by the end of October, while plant validation and operational startup remain planned for the fourth quarter of 2026. [1]
The pilot line is intended to support material qualification with automotive and cell-manufacturing partners. This is a battery-materials manufacturing milestone; the announcement does not establish a completed commercial EV battery or a vehicle launch date. [1]
