SFMTA outlines robotaxi pickup limits for San Francisco Fleet Week, October 9-11
SFMTA says autonomous rideshare pickups and drop-offs near the northern waterfront will be restricted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
San Francisco's transportation agency says autonomous rideshare services, including Waymo, will have pickup and drop-off restrictions near the waterfront during Fleet Week. Its advisory lists geofences active Friday through Sunday, October 9-11, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. [1]
The listed boundaries include Marina Boulevard, Fort Mason, Aquatic Park and Fisherman's Wharf, with additional zones along parts of Van Ness, Bay Street and The Embarcadero. SFMTA also says autonomous rideshare service will not be available anywhere within the Presidio. [1]
The advisory describes waterfront pickup and drop-off limits, not a citywide robotaxi ban. SFMTA says traditional Uber and Lyft services and taxis will remain available without those geofence restrictions. [1]
Muni will provide extra service along the northern and eastern waterfront. For trip planning, SFMTA's guide includes an autonomous-service boundary map, transit alternatives and service changes. The agency also warns of congestion and possible bus delays near the Van Ness terminal. [1]
