The optional package includes rear-wheel steering and a flatter steering wheel, with German prices starting at €2,975 including VAT but excluding delivery or collection costs.

Mercedes-Benz announced on October 6 that steer-by-wire is available to order for its new EQS electric sedan in all EQS markets worldwide. It is optional equipment, rather than a feature included with every EQS. [1]

In Germany, the option starts at €2,500 before VAT or €2,975 including VAT. Both figures exclude delivery or factory-collection costs. These are German option prices, not the price of the vehicle or a U.S. quote. [1]

The system replaces the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and front wheels with an electrical connection carrying the driver's steering inputs. The package also includes rear-axle steering of up to 10 degrees and a newly designed, flatter steering wheel. [1]

Mercedes says the system reduces the steering-wheel movement needed at low speeds to make parking and manoeuvring easier. The announcement does not give a first customer delivery date or individual option prices outside Germany. [1]
