Lyft announces Nashville AV depot opening; Waymo vehicles expected October 12
Flexdrive's new 80,000-square-foot depot is intended to support an existing Waymo service, with vehicles expected at the facility October 12.
Lyft's Flexdrive subsidiary announced that it held the ribbon cutting for its new 80,000-square-foot Nashville depot on October 2. The facility is intended to charge, service and maintain Waymo autonomous vehicles. [1] [2]
Flexdrive says it is moving into the site and expects Waymo vehicles to arrive on October 12. The company describes dozens of fast chargers, repair bays for high-voltage work and secure parts storage. [1]
Lyft says the charging infrastructure can support hundreds of vehicles, but the announcement does not provide an exact fleet count for the depot. It identifies both the arrival timing and expected capacity as forward-looking statements. [1]
The October 12 date concerns vehicles arriving at the depot. Lyft already announced Waymo passenger matching in central Nashville on September 9. Under that announcement, eligible trips must start and end within the service area, and riders can decline an autonomous ride or opt out entirely. [1] [2]
