German transport minister pushes for EU approval of Tesla FSD
The ministry says Tesla offered the name Tesla Assisted Driving; its announcement does not confirm EU approval or a rollout date.
Germany's transport ministry said on October 6 that minister Steffen Bilger will advocate for timely EU-wide approval of Tesla's FSD (Supervised). Bilger said September discussions with Tesla addressed technical and liability questions and produced an agreement. [1]
The ministry also says Tesla offered to rename the system Tesla Assisted Driving. That is a reported offer, not confirmation that Tesla has changed the product's name across its vehicles or markets. [1]
The announcement describes a driver-assistance system that can help with acceleration, braking and steering. It stresses that drivers must stay attentive and remain responsible for driving safely, including in city traffic. [1]
Germany says it is coordinating with its KBA vehicle authority, the Dutch approval authority and Tesla. The ministry supports continuing the European approval process, but this announcement does not report an EU approval decision or give a customer rollout date. [1]
