The California Energy Commission announced on October 7 that applications are open for at least $28 million in public fast-charger incentives. The Fast Charge California Project's second window closes January 14, 2027, at 5 p.m. Pacific. [1] [2]

The program can cover up to 100% of approved project costs, within per-port caps. CALeVIP lists $55,000 for ports with guaranteed output from 150 to 274.99 kW, and $100,000 for ports guaranteeing at least 275 kW. These are infrastructure incentives for eligible applicants, not rebates for buying an EV. [2]

Sites must be publicly accessible, with at least half their connectors using CCS. Applications need issued permits plus either a final utility service design or a utility letter confirming no new or upgraded service is required. Eligible ready-to-build projects in disadvantaged, low-income and tribal communities receive queue priority. [2]

An incentive reservation does not mean chargers are already operating. The program's installation process still includes construction, inspections, any required utility work and commissioning before final documentation and payment. [2]
